Zen house Swainson Street Lytham

ABOUT THE

PROJECT

A Client wishing to have a new 3 bedroom house which was to fill in a gap in a small back street in the Lytham Conservation Area. The front entrance fronts the road with one side curved to leads you to a glazed feature door. This is the centre of the house with U shaped stairs and dining to left, kitchen to right, and lounge straight on. The kitchen and lounge are on opposing sides and frame the rear Japanese styled feature garden. The first floor accommodates 3 bedrooms and bathroom. The front bedroom has a Japanese frosted glazed screen to separate the ensuite. The bedroom over the attached garage houses the master bedroom under a semi circular zinc curved roof shape. The house has been adapted and changed since its inception, with new suspended bed gallery in the rear bedroom and new horizontal fully glazed doors to both lounge and kitchen onto the zen garden. The design follows similar ideas in most of my designs with following cottage Arts and Crafts style.
Materials : Roof slate, Walls facing brickwork, Windows stained timber, Doors hardwood glazed in Japanese style.
