New House Underbarrow

This house had been designed by another local Architect who had fallen ill and I was asked to step in and finalise the design and undertake all the working drawings and look after the project as Contract administrator on site. The detail design and site management of any building is vital if the end result is be of a sufficient high quality that will both honour the original design and look right. Here this was achieved and I have been back to the building after 8 years to check all was working well. My Client confirmed that this was the case and that the house is both a delight and joy to live in. The way a limited pallet of materials are put together and how they connect and interact can only be resolved by designing and drawing them out before the building is on site. Preparation of a full set of working drawings together with a Quantity Surveyors schedule of work is always the best method to produce a quality building on time and on budget.
